SALT AND SAND SPREADERS PROVIDE INSURANCE AGAINST WINTER FREEZE
The 1,800kg load capacity Axeo 18.1 is the flagship salt and sand spreader in KUHN’s Amenity Pro range, offering the strength and resilience needed to make light work of winter road, yard, and car park maintenance.
The tractor mounted Axeo 18.1, which is adaptable for use with salt, sand, and grit, has a standard 750 litre hopper that can be extended to 1,500 litres. The machine also has an agitator design feature that prevents settling and compaction of materials.
Distribution over the treatment area is adjusted easily and without tools by changing the point at which material is delivered to the disc. Stainless steel deflectors control the spread width, which can reach up to 8 metres. It is possible to move the deflectors independently to right or left and – for applications to pavements for example – spread to the right can be cut off. The spreading disc has eight blades to provide improved distribution of materials, particularly at high forward speeds.
The Axeo, which can also be used to spread fertiliser, is also available in two further sizes; the Axeo 6.1, with a maximum load capacity of 1,000kg, and the Axeo 2.1, with a maximum load capacity of 800kg. Both models offer the same agitator design, to avoid settling and compaction of materials, and have the same spreading range with comparable benefits of easy adjustment of the treatment area.
For smaller scale requirements, KUHN supplies a hand operated salt and sand spreader for overcoming the hazards of snow and ice on yards, tracks, walkways, and car parks.
The K51 is wheel driven, has a 55-litre plastic hopper, and has adjustable disc vanes that enable a spreading range from 0.5 – 6.0 metres. Spreading can be limited to the left hand side only and the drive is easily disengaged to allow the machine to be moved without spreading. Hopper bottom, agitator, shutter, spread limiter and spreading disc are all made of stainless steel.
An accurate application rate scale is included on the K51, so the machine can be used reliably for seed and fertiliser, as well as for spreading salt, sand, and fine gravel. Attachments are available so that the machine can be towed behind a small vehicle or pushed by hand.
